Our senior cricket team officially kicked off their league campaign on Saturday, 22 August 2026, with their first home match of the season against Hoërskool Hans Strijdom.
The match developed into an exciting cricket battle, with Hoërskool Hans Strijdom eventually claiming victory by 48 runs.
Hoërskool Hans Strijdom batted first and closed their innings on 215/10 in 49.3 overs. The Daller bowlers worked hard throughout the innings to keep the visitors’ score under control. Jac-Johan Gouws delivered an impressive performance, taking 4 wickets for 31 runs, while Jaco van der Westhuizen took two wickets for 25 runs and Juan Nieman two for 31 runs.
With 216 runs required for victory, the Daller batsmen approached the chase with determination. Dillan Britz performed excellently, scoring an unbeaten 52 runs off 75 balls. He was supported by Jaco van der Westhuizen, who scored 34 off 37 balls, and Juan Nieman with 19 off 28 balls. Unfortunately, we were bowled out for 167 runs in 37.4 overs, handing Hoërskool Hans Strijdom a 48-run victory.
Although the result did not go our way, the match provided valuable match experience and gave the senior team an opportunity to test themselves against strong league opposition. With the league campaign now officially underway, the team will undoubtedly focus on learning from this match and returning stronger in their upcoming fixtures.
